Congresswoman Luria Continues to Advocate for Coastal Virginians As She Votes to Pass First Appropriations Package

Yesterday, Congresswoman Luria voted for the passage of the State, Foreign Operations, Agriculture, Rural Development, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, 2021 (H.R. 7608). Congresswoman Luria requested and secured funding for several programs and funds that would benefit Coastal Virginia.
It is critical that we pass these appropriations bills, which will ensure we have the funds to protect our natural resources, our veterans receive needed benefits, and our military can continue building to modernize and improve readiness," said Congresswoman Luria.
Agriculture funding secured by Congresswoman Luria:
$1.025 billion for rural broadband programs that can help constituents on the Eastern Shore;
$1 billion for conservation programs to help farmers, ranchers, and other landowners conserve and protect their land, which includes $167 million for watershed rehabilitation projects;
$833.785 million for the Natural Resources Conservation Service work in the Chesapeake Bay
Interior funding secured by Congresswoman Luria:
$90.6 million for the Environmental Protection Agency's Chesapeake Bay Program to improve the health of this critical estuary;
$1,221,814,000 for the Hazardous Substance Superfund, which supports cleaning up contamination at Langley Air Force Base, Fort Eustis, and other sites around Coastal Virginia;
$10 million for Historic Preservation Grants for Historically Black Colleges and Universities like Hampton University and Norfolk State University;
$675,000 for the Albemarle-Pamilco National Estuary Partnership through EPA;
$3.22 billion for the National Park Service to protect public lands in Coastal Virginia like Fort Monroe and Yorktown Battlefield.
Military Construction funding secured by Congresswoman Luria:
$1.49 billion for Family Housing, including $135 million to address issues such as mold, vermin, and lead in military family housing.
$231,071,000 for military construction projects in Virginia, including:
$19.5 million for the access control point at Joint Base Langley-Eustis
$30.4 million for E-2D Training Facility at Naval Station Norfolk
$17.671 million for MH60 and CMV-22B Corrosion Control and Paint Facility at Naval Station Norfolk
